2021, the not too distant future. A global devastation that was brought about by an alien invasion has left the whole
planet in shambles. In the Philippines, a rag-tag group of survivors strives to survive in a secret sanctuary called “Paraiso”.
Crisval Sarmiento, an ex-military colonel, is the reluctant leader that defends the whole compound from two threats. That of the Mutanos” or mutated humans serving the insect like alien race (aptly called “Balangs” by the humans) and the alien invaders themselves.

Crisval, together with other human survivors soon discover the real reason that the “Balangs” have invaded the planet earth… the conversion of humans to serve their needs.
In order to survive, they must go up against a technologically-advanced alien race using robots they have engineered from recycled parts of derelict everyday machines and military components.
In the midst of this war for human survival, love and faith become the greatest weapons of the human race.
This is a story of the human spirit fighting against a malevolent force out to destroy the only place we call home.
From the producer of “Agimat” and “Exodus”, and from the director of “Encantadia” and “Atlantika”, IMUS Productions and Ignite Media present “RESIKLO”, starring Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., Dingdong Dantes, Paolo Contis, Benjie Paras, Jennylyn Mercado, Michelle Madrigal, Jolo Revilla, Bryan Revilla, Ramgen Revilla, Empress Schuck, Luis Alandy, TJ Trinidad, and Roi Vinson.

cool cgi! although the script might be a bit lame and is an obvious copycat of hollywood films, this is a great start for Filipino films to rise above the usual crappy love stories and pathetic action movies.

Ok, interesting. Impressive graphics for local production. But what happened to the other countries? What happened to the other superpowers? We’d be able to put up a fight, yes, but i doubt we’d be the only ones capable of battling the aliens.

geez, though maganda ang pagkakagawa.[filipino PoV, if it would be compared w/ Foreign Films, I say it would suck] it would be better if they’d made the Story away from some Foreign Films and or games from it. Much like Starship Troopers, Starcraft, CC Tiberium Wars, etc.
“Save the Earth. Recycle” what kind of tag line is this considering that it is focused only on the Philippines. would be better if it would like be that they are all over the world and then come to Philippines coz the enem-y/ies made the Philippines as their Fortress. That would leave an explanation about the other countries around the World.

you’ve gotta be kidding me. every second of the film was copied from every hollywood movie there is. from blade to transformers, mission impossible to star wars. visual effects can be improved but locally acceptable. storyline as useless are crap. actors… look at it this way, where have you seen an incumbent senator doing his acting on the big screen (where does he get time to do his senatorial duties?) - then there’s the boob war between Michelle Madrigal and Jennylyn Mercado, can’t they get their necklines a bit more lower… - Jennylyn should go easy on the paddings in her bra since - the boob job is enough… Fight sequences are still unnatural, the actors are trying hard. Dingdong, trying hard with Capoeira - something you learned recently - keep trying… ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES…

Sick of Original Pinoy Flicks,
It seems there is no satisfying you. I am quite sure you are one of those people who watch “FORMULA” movies like the director who did this film(RESIKLO) looking for boxed and predictable sequences like what we see in STARWARS, TRANSFORMERS,BEOWOLF, DIEHARD and what ever HOLLYWOOD epic films you can predictably think of. I am quite sure you are one who would get bored in films like “LADY IN THE WATER”. Or probably question why Steven Spielberg did not include the GREAT BATTLE between the armies of the world and the aliens in his film, WAR OF THE WORLDS. You would probably brag that you’ve watched all the Akira Kurusawa Films and swear you can explain his vision through Joseph Campbel’s wisdom.
All I can read in your words are hatred and frustration towards the whole Imus Production. Has it ever entered your mind that the makers of the movie may have had no choice but to follow the people who produced the film. Has it ever entered your mind that the film is still after all a product of sleepless nights and sweat and sacrifice by both aspiring and struggling artist who are trying to make a living in this third word. Yes, we are constantly DEMANDING a FIRST WORLD delivery from THIRD WORLD WORKERS which I applaud for their hardship in Enteng, Resiklo, Shake and SSSaklolo.
Can you not offer suggestions instead? I’m quite sure the good Senator and his advisers are mature enough to take the suggestions and consider change.
I have watched the movie too and it seems there are a lot of improvements in terms of CGI. There were technical shots that were somehow original. Like the fight scene between the robot and that big alien near the end of the film.(Kaso bitin) My daughter and nephew were hoping to see more robots in action by the way. (Kaso pati sila nabigo). I kind of liked the designs of the alien ships. The Recycle robots were also OK. I personally think the robots in resiklo didn’t resemble the robots from TRANSFORMERS like others would say. It kind of reminded me more of that Mech from ALIENS or Mech-warriors. I also remembered that 1990’s film RoboJax. I was looking for ICONIC Filipino images on the robots like those horses or “Plakards” seen on top of hoods of Jeepneys. Place recognizable items next time.
Though the Revilla sons/brothers were part of the cast, I did not see them as an annoyance in the film. they were actually surprisingly entertaining in a “Masa” point of view. (No offense to your comments, SUPF). BUT They lack an establishing sequence for the scene where they went out in those bulky cyber-armors. and who is that guy in the Yellow armor? Oh, by the way(again), if your pushing for a sequel, include those armors. the kids in my family wants to see them again, but please give them an establishing scene.
What bothered me much wasspotting signature shots that were obviously taken(ehem) or should I say inspirations from films such as STARWARS and Matrix. I know that the film is directed towards “Masa” crowd, but I find it quite un-necessary, because people such as Muviman(The heartless) and I were also part of your audience and we will always find it insulting. Just keep most of the narrative shots unique like some of the sequences.
The overall story is outrageous. I was hungry for a global perspective. What is so important about the Philippines? I could think of plenty of reasons. It would have been more acceptable if the reason was “WATER” and the Philippines being a great strategical “WAY-POINT” because of its location. I hope you make the change in the sequel.
I did not like the idea of making half-breeds that could teleport, pre-cognate and/or have over the top powers. That idea is soooo “Heroes” TV Series. I would rather not see them in the sequel. Powers give the characters a not so necessary edge in the conflict. The characters should have used their ingenuity nalang sana against alien technology. You guys should have maximized your claim in the concept: RECYCLING.
To the supporters of RESIKLO:
I also support your enthusiasm for the local film. I love the way the movie is showing potential in terms of CGI and technical narration.
Do not be affected by cold remarks made by people such as that sucked up guy and myself. Think of them as notes for consideration.

Pahabol.
I find the killings in the film disturbing. It was too graphic for kids. Maybe not if it were classified as an action film, but as a kids film, it totally raised a question mark and an exclamation point.
Transformers is a kids film(though it was very much appreciated by adults due to its nostalgic value). Where in the TF movie have you seen any graphic or violent human killing? I can sight just one: The Qatar desert run. It wasnt even graphic. It was a blur. The only slugfests were made by robots and not humans. Bumblebee vs Barricade, Prime vs Bone Crusher vs Megatron. Have you seen Sam vs Simmons? I dont think so. My point is, to qualify as a child friendly movie, the story of the human spirit should only be depicted with innocence and and non-graphic conflicts.
Regarding aliens and mutants:
There were more human villains than there were aliens. The mutants did not look menacing/dangerous. More aliens please.
Regarding Heroes:
You know there is something more appealing with women characters taking the lead aND KIDS BEING THE CENTER or the focus of the story and men being protectors in the background. After all, 95% of buying power of the population goes to women now a days. In the family, the men provides, but seldom decides what to do and
I would love to see the sequel to be more of a KIDS or a Tweener’s FILM rather than an action film.
Look for a new script writer. Hire that Sick of Unoriginal Pinoy Flicks guy. But i guess he would rather spend his mornings and late night answering Resiklo Fan Blogs like I do. Its a good thing i have my own company business to attend to to get my income from.
uhh.. Raptor,
Take it easy. Criticisms are made by individuals who have their own definitions of freedom of speech and have plenty of free time. Its just sad that there are those who use criticism as a means to downgrade other free folk’s passions. One is not truthfully an advocate of freedom if the freedom of others is being scorned so freely by the so called advocate of free speech.
So far I have seen Enteng, Resiklo, SSsaklolo and shake. I would choose the second as the best technical film and I hope Imus Improves more and be open for change.
Speak freely…
Seek truth…
Speak with the people..

Resiklo is indeed not that great plotwise, but it manages to show us that the Philippine film industry is slowly catching up with Hollywood films - even if only in terms of special effects. Perhaps with more effort given to developing characters along with a similar effort in CG and special effects, future local movies may hopefully match Hollywood films and would again put the Philippines on the map (at least in the Entertainment industry). Using Capoera was indeed going a little overboard as it isn’t even a local martial art. There are excellent Filipino Martial Arts such as Arnis and Kali which could have been utilized to further promote our own culture. Still, I found the film interesting and am hoping for a sequel next MMFF (or sooner)

Now-a-days, any body can claim the title, “Critic”. Especially in the electronic highway where identities are concealed and where idiosyncratic people play roles that they could not handle in a tangible world.
Gone are the days when critics have philosophical handles that they use to define a certain form offered by the artist.
A critic identifies the art or message in any creation and offers to define how it is perceived by the people.
Gone are the days when a critic appreciates all aspects of any creation, be it for art or for decoration or for entertainment.
A critic is supposed to be a judge of art. A judge determines the limits of ones actions and defines its place in the society POSITIVELY AND UNBIASED.
To criticize is not to down-grade. To criticize is to define with philosophy as a backbone.
Before you go on and pretend that you are an authority of any art or industry and claim the right to critic, please equip your mind with academic handles and sociological backgrounds. Saying what one feels on a certain topic does not make one a critic.
I appreciate the movie for how it is defined by both the makers and the target viewers: A product of hard work by the makers and An entertainment material or fantastic escape for the masses.
Thanks for reading what I think.
Peace.

Hi.
Forget the “unoriginality” and bad casting or should I say acting, at least Resiklo tried to make the obvious “Transformers” meet in “Star Wars” in an “Inconvenient Truth” world.
Plus, let’s take into consideration that this movie used the available technology here in the Philippines yet that is still covered by a tight budget and pressure to do well in the Box Office.
They have to package it as FUN rather than getting too serious.
Read my review in my blog. Thanks.

‘Gandang discussion ah. Although, di ko pa napapanood ang movie, I have my reservations about paying a hundred bucks to see a movie in a cinema where the projectionists don’t care if the focus and the audio iare working properly. Pero malaki pa rin ang paniwala ko sa movie industry. Resiklo, for what its worth, proved that we can venture into scifi. Yun nga lang, ang sakit ng Pinoy movies, nandun pa rin. Maraming nalilimutan sa sound fx, marami ding taken for granted (some already pointed out sa mga naunang post ). Sadly, though, ang pinoy konting achievement lang ginagawang monumental. May matututunan tayo kina Robert Rodriguez at Quentin Tarantino: make a campy wham-bam movie that earns a lot at the box office, tapos yung proceeds gawing budget sa mas matino at quality movie.
Korea did The Host at Dragon Wars, Japan can surpass any movie na gawa natin kahit sa sentai genre pa lang, Indonesia and Malaysia are doing fine and really advancing. China, well, they have earned their niche in Hollywood.
Di natin kailangan ma break ang Hollywood, we just need well-thought, aptly produced and sensible movies.
Good luck on your next projects, Imus!
